North Charleston POPS! proudly presents Lowcountry Legends, a concert showcasing some of Charleston’s most extraordinary musical talents. The highly anticipated performance will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 7:30 PM at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center.
Sponsored by LERATO LLC and Fox Music, this remarkable evening will feature two-time Grammy Award-winning vocalist Quiana Parler and Charleston-based composer and jazz saxophonist Kevin Patton. Parler will deliver breathtaking renditions of Summertime from Porgy and Bess, Total Praise, and other gospel favorites. Patton will debut Reflections, an original orchestral composition, adding a new masterpiece to Charleston’s rich musical landscape. Works by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and Tuffus Zimbabwe will complete this powerful lineup of music.
A native of Charleston, Quiana Parler is a celebrated vocalist whose career has spanned national tours, major television appearances, and collaborations with industry icons such as Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5, Miranda Lambert, and Clay Aiken. As the lead vocalist of Ranky Tanky, Parler has helped bring the cultural and musical heritage of the Gullah Geechee community to international audiences, earning critical acclaim and two Grammy Awards. She has also been recognized for her contributions to music education, serving on the Advisory Board for Carnegie Hall’s Musical Explorers curriculum.
Joining her is Kevin Patton, a distinguished composer and saxophonist whose work fuses jazz and gospel influences. A graduate of the College of Charleston, Patton has performed at prestigious festivals such as Piccolo Spoleto, Savannah Black Heritage Festival, and The Colour of Music Festival. His extensive performance career includes collaborations with jazz greats like Delfeayo Marsalis and Ernie Watts. Patton’s newest composition, Reflections, will have its world premiere at this special concert.
