Wit’s End Comedy Club & Lounge will host nationally touring comedian Emma Willmann for four shows March 20-21, continuing the club’s push to bring top-tier comedy talent to the Charleston area.
Willmann has become a standout voice in modern stand-up, known for her fearless honesty and quick improvisational style. She appeared in the first season of the Netflix stand-up series The Lineup and has performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Her acting credits include roles in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Crashing and The Good Fight, and she’s a regular performer at New York’s Comedy Cellar.
Originally from Blue Hill, Maine, Willmann has built a reputation for mixing warmth and chaos onstage in a way that keeps audiences constantly guessing and laughing.
For Josh Bates, owner of Wit's End, the show represents part of a larger effort to turn North Charleston into a regular stop for nationally touring comedians.
“Our goal is to bring heavy hitters to North Charleston,” Bates said. “The kind of comics people usually have to travel to New York or Atlanta to see. Emma is one of those comics who can absolutely destroy a room.”
Since opening, Wit’s End has steadily hosted rising and established comedians while also helping grow Charleston’s local stand-up scene through open mics, showcases and touring shows.
“Charleston has an incredible comedy community,” Bates added. “We’re just trying to give it a stage big enough to match the talent.”
