The Nantucket Historical Association and Charleston interior designer Michael Mitchell will partner to bring Nantucket by Design “On the Road” to Charleston on Nov. 20–21. The annual design-focused series features conversations, workshops, and events celebrating art, history, and craftsmanship.
The two-day program begins Thursday, Nov. 20, at 4:30 p.m. with Cocktails & Conversations, a talk titled Designing with History: Inspiration from Nantucket and Charleston. Niles Parker, Gosnell Executive Director of the Nantucket Historical Association, will give a brief introduction to Nantucket history. Mitchell will follow with a discussion of how both Nantucket and Charleston influence his design work, including a behind-the-scenes look at a recent project involving a historic Nantucket home.
On Friday, Nov. 21, at 10:30 a.m., guests can take part in Bangles & Bites, a woven bangle bracelet workshop. Participants will create a pair of bracelets using natural materials, selecting their preferred accent color and width. The casual crafting session will also include bagels and Bloody Marys.
Both events will take place at the Michael Mitchell Showroom, 414 King St. Tickets and RSVPs are available at nantucketbydesign.com/ontheroad.
