On August 7th, Miller Gallery will be celebrating the opening of Unbroken.
Two local artists working in different mediums have come together for a duet exhibition at Miller Gallery. Unbroken will feature Charleston’s beloved ceramicist Liv Antonecchia and abstract painter Laura Dargan.
For Unbroken, Dargan's dynamic, multi-layered paintings explore the continuous shape of the sphere. “I was inspired by the idea of an unbroken shape that offers a limitless interpretation to the viewer. My goal was to create scenarios for the viewer to indulge in and contemplate” says Dargan.
Antonecchia took to the potter’s wheel for Unbroken, stating, “This series of forms has been a continuation of ceramic work started years ago when I first started my journey working in clay. The idea of growth, connection and healing is a process which to me became the physical form of organic circles. The inspiration was continued on my functional thrown and altered vases. I was really excited to see the play and contrast of the gold luster adornment against the matte surface”.
Miller Gallery will be exhibiting Unbroken in-person and online. All art will be available for pre-sale on the Miller Gallery website starting 8/5/2021. An opening reception will be held in the gallery space on Saturday August 7 from 1-4pm. Masks required for all unvaccinated or high-risk attendees.
Unbroken is a precursor to Antonecchia and Dargan's upcoming presence at the Affordable Art Fair in NYC. Miller Gallery will be featuring 8 of their artists at the September 2021 Art Fair at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea. 60 international art galleries will be showcasing artwork ranging from $500-$10,000. The fair is open to the public (tickets required). September 22-26.
