More than eight years ago, Meyer Vogl Gallery opened its doors and debuted its first-ever exhibition, Duet. The joint show was a collaboration between Laurie Meyer and Marissa Vogl, co-owners of the gallery. In the years since, the gallery has come to represent dozens of artists and host an abundance of shows.
Duet, Tre opens October 4th and will be the third iteration of that first-ever joint show. Meyer and Vogl have been creating work that is unique to their own styles and inspiration, but is sure complement one another.
Says Marissa of her new work, “This body of work is an eclectic mishmash of recent memories, such as a family excursion to the jungle in Panama. Sometimes the painting is a moment in time, like the landscape-inspired pieces. Some are made-up flower gardens; I have just started a new garden at home with hopes of it being abundant in variety and color. Others are purely intuitive in gesture and color. All of these pieces are exactly where my mind was at the time I created them, nothing forced.”
Laurie comments on her inspiration, “This collection of paintings is inspired by a summer well lived. I absolutely love summer. It is my favorite season as I am so inspired by sunlight. My hope is that the paintings show the quality of light on many different subjects. From my dog on the beach to the gift of flowers at the loss of him, the subjects are diverse and yet are tied together with the appreciation of advancing light.”
The curation of the artists’ work will honor their growth since the opening of the gallery eight years ago.
The opening celebration for DUET, TRE will take place during the Art Walk on Friday, October 4th, and is free to attend. Requests for previews may be sent to Katie Geer at katie@meyervogl.com. More information can be found at https://meyervogl.com/exhibitions.
