Meyer Vogl Gallery announced a solo exhibition by artist Marissa Vogl, opening May 1, 2026.
The new body of work, titled Variety Show, explores process, experimentation and the freedom of creative expression. In this series, Vogl embraces a fluid, intuitive approach, allowing each piece to unfold without constraint. The work serves as a “tip of the hat” to the act of creating and what happens when an artist follows curiosity, shifting techniques and discovering something new in the moment. The result is a collection that feels both personal and expansive, rooted in the idea that creating is, first and foremost, for the maker.
“This body of work is really about freedom,” Vogl said. “A reminder that we can create whatever we want, however we want, in that moment. When we allow ourselves to work that way, there’s a kind of honesty that comes through, something more human, more connected.”
“It has been an honor of my lifetime to be by Marissa Vogl’s side for the past 10 years, watching her grow into the artist she is today,” said Katie Geer, gallery director and co-owner. “She’s always been a ‘color whisperer,’ with an incredibly intuitive understanding of color. She’s developed a strong abstract practice, with her work collected worldwide, all while maintaining a sense of play and not taking herself too seriously.”
Alongside her exploration of process, Vogl’s work carries an undercurrent of optimism and urgency, drawing attention to the natural world, particularly Earth’s waters, and prompting reflection on our relationship to it.
The opening reception for Variety Show will be held Friday, May 1, at Meyer Vogl Gallery. The exhibition will be on view through May 22, 2026.
