UPDATE on 1/26/25 - Palmetto Carriage Works & Palmetto Tours released the following statement:
"Unfortunately, the City of Charleston along with the Palmetto Carriage staff have determined that the streets are not safe for travel today. While many of Charleston's streets have been cleared of snow and ice, some shaded areas along our routes remain unsafe for operation.
As a result, we regret to announce the cancellation of the 2025 Local's Free Day event. We truly appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you next January, hopefully with better weather conditions!"

UPDATE on 1/25/25 - Palmetto Carriage Works & Palmetto Tours today released the following update on tomorrow's Locals Ride Free Day:
"The City of Charleston and our team are closely monitoring street conditions to ensure the safety of our horses, staff and the public as we assess the remainder of the weekend. Currently, the earliest possible opening time on Sunday, January 26th is 12:00 PM. We’ll post an update on social media as soon as we have a definite plan for tomorrow.
If we’re able to open at noon, we’d love to see you at our annual Local’s Free Day event! However, if we’re advised not to open, we’ll unfortunately have to cancel the event and look forward to resuming it in 2026.
Your safety is our top priority, and we’re preparing for all scenarios. Thank you for your patience, and we’ll keep you updated as soon as possible!"
