Longtime Charleston singer-songwriter and award-winning guitarist Doug Walters is set to release his 10th solo album, a 14-song LP titled Waking the Ghost, this month.
Musically akin to artists such as Roger Waters, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Mark Lanegan, Dax Riggs and Chris Whitley, Walters blends soulful acoustic blues, rock and alternative folk. A deeply spiritual artist, he describes the stage as his church and his relationship with the divine as his primary influence.
“There’s a lotta darkness out there. I’ve known quite a few shadows myself,” he said. “But I always try to light a candle.”
