Charleston Crafts Gallery, a vibrant cooperative of local artisans, will present its upcoming group exhibition, A Change of Season, opening Nov. 1 and running through Nov. 30. This dynamic showcase captures the shifting moods, textures, and colors of the changing seasons through handcrafted works in jewelry, fiber, glass, and ceramics.
From the warmth of knitwear to the shimmer of seasonal hues in glass, A Change of Season invites visitors to explore how artists interpret transformation, renewal, and the passage of time through their chosen media. The exhibition features new work from six cooperative members, each offering a unique perspective on the cyclical beauty of nature.
Opening Reception:
- Nov. 7, 5–8 p.m.
- Free and open to the public
- Light refreshments will be served
“We chose the theme A Change of Season to reflect not only the literal transitions in weather and landscape, but also the ways in which artists grow, shift, and evolve in their practices,” said Carrie Helmkamp, member artist and ceramic illustrator. “Each piece tells a story of transition, whether subtle or bold.”
Visitors will experience:
- One-of-a-kind jewelry that captures the fleeting brilliance of fall leaves and early frosts
- Fiber works rich with seasonal textures and tones, from soft knits to abstract mixed-media compositions
- Fused glass evoking the clarity of winter mornings and the play of light in spring
- Ceramic forms that blend organic shapes and earth tones, echoing the cycles of growth and rest
The exhibition also highlights the power of community and collaboration in sustaining local arts. As a cooperative gallery, Charleston Crafts Gallery is owned and operated by its artist members, offering year-round exhibitions and handmade goods to the community.
