Meyer Vogl Gallery will open a solo exhibition by Charleston-based artist and gallery co-owner Laurie Meyer on Friday, Oct. 2.
Meyer is known for paintings spanning landscapes, florals, figurative works and architectural subjects, with light serving as a central element throughout her work.
“It isn't fall in Charleston without a Laurie Meyer solo exhibition,” said Katie Geer, director and co-owner of Meyer Vogl Gallery. “This one feels extra special, as we are also celebrating our 10th anniversary as a gallery this year.”
Throughout the exhibition, Meyer explores the relationship between light and subject, using shifts in tone, color and shadow. Organizers say the collection reflects the range of her practice while highlighting the sense of light and place that has become central to her work.
In addition to her work as an artist, Meyer is known for her workshops and is an instructor in the Charleston community.
An opening reception will be held Friday, Oct. 2, at Meyer Vogl Gallery. The exhibition will remain on view through the end of October.
