Charleston County Parks will host its annual Latin American Festival from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, at Wannamaker County Park.
The festival celebrates Charleston’s Latin cultures through merengue, reggaeton, bachata and salsa music, along with folkloric artwork, crafts, dance performances and traditional foods.
Vendors will sell Latin American and Caribbean dishes and desserts, including empanadas and arroz con pollo. Food, beverages and souvenirs will be available for an additional charge.
Gates open at noon. The entertainment schedule includes:
- 1-1:40 p.m.: Rumbao Latin Dance Group
- 1:45-2:45 p.m.: Julio & Rafa
- 2:45-3:15 p.m.: Salsa contest with DJ Luigi
- 3:30-5 p.m.: Orquesta Bravo
Rumbao Latin Dance, a Charlotte-based group founded in 2013, will begin the entertainment with performances featuring salsa, cha-cha, merengue, bachata and Brazilian samba.
Venezuelan Latin music duo Julio & Rafa will perform at 1:45 p.m. The Charlotte-based duo has appeared at festivals and other large events throughout the Carolinas and beyond.
Orquesta Bravo will close the festival beginning at 3:30 p.m. Directed by Joe Bravo, the Charlotte-based multinational salsa band features four trombones, three percussionists, four vocalists, piano and bass.
Advance admission is $15 per vehicle for up to 15 people. Admission at the gate is $25 per vehicle. Gold Pass holders will be admitted free.
Outside food, alcohol and coolers are prohibited. Pets are not permitted.
Accessible parking and restrooms will be available. An accessibility tent will offer KultureCity sensory bags for guests to check out.
