Ladybird Books (299 King St.) will host an event with New York Times bestselling author Patti Callahan Henry and Kate Auletta, editor in chief of Scary Mommy, on Friday, May 1, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature a conversation on the life of writing and Henry’s latest novel, “The Story She Left Behind,” which is newly released in paperback and positioned as a summer read.
Set between 1927 South Carolina and 1950s London, The Story She Left Behind follows a daughter as she unravels the mystery of her mother, a famed author who disappeared at sea, leaving behind an invented language and an unfinished story.
Patti Callahan Henry is a New York Times, Globe and Mail and USA Today bestselling author of 17 novels. Her work has been translated into more than 20 languages and selected for major book clubs and editorial lists. She is the recipient of the Christy Award Book of the Year, the Harper Lee Distinguished Writer of the Year and the Alabama Library Association Book of the Year.
Kate Auletta previously spent more than 11 years at HuffPost and was part of the founding editorial team at WSJ Magazine. She has also held roles at House & Garden and InStyle.
