Ladybird Books (299 King St.) is thrilled to host Lucie Franc de Ferriere, owner and head baker at NYC’s From Lucie, in conversation with Hannah Welton of Welton’s Tiny Bakeshop on Wednesday, May 6, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The discussion will be moderated by Courtney Zentner, owner of Merci and The Drifter. The event will celebrate community, conversation and the craft of baking. Guests will receive a copy of Franc de Ferriere’s debut book, “Cake From Lucie,” and enjoy a sampling of her cakes.
In “Cake From Lucie,” Franc de Ferriere shares recipes that reflect her signature style, from simple, everyday bakes to more intricate desserts. The book pairs photography from her family’s farm with personal stories and recipes inspired by both Southern France and New York City.
Franc de Ferriere, who was born and raised in Southern France, grew up baking with her mother at her family’s farm and bed-and-breakfast. She later opened From Lucie in New York City’s East Village, known for its whimsical baked goods adorned with fresh flowers.
Welton co-owns Welton’s Tiny Bakeshop, a local bakery that was recently named a finalist for Outstanding Bakery by the James Beard Awards.
Tickets cost $40 and include a copy of the book; purchase here. Follow Ladybird on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
