Ladybird Books (299 King St.) will host an author event with Jen Shoop on Thursday, April 16, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature a conversation around Shoop’s debut book, “Small Wonders: A Field Guide to Life’s Small Joys.”
Jillian Eversole, a Charleston-based lifestyle writer and co-founder of TableWith, will open the event, followed by a discussion led by Grace Atwood, founder of The Stripe and Scratch Pad.
“Small Wonders” is a collection of essays, musings and list poetry on the art of paying attention. The book expands on Shoop’s daily blog, Magpie by Jen Shoop, and explores themes including motherhood, inheritance, intimacy, nature and language.
Shoop is a Washington, D.C.-based writer, mother and wife, and holds an advanced degree in literature from Georgetown University.
Tickets cost $23 and include a copy of “Small Wonders”; purchase here. Follow Ladybird on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
