Families across the Lowcountry are invited to attend the Kids Craft Fair, a youth-run marketplace where local students turn their creativity into real-world entrepreneurship. The event will take place Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 605 Rutledge Avenue.
The Kids Craft Fair features student-designed and student-made products, including handmade crafts, jewelry, artwork, baked goods, accessories and creative inventions. All vendors are students in grades 4-12, and each booth is run entirely by the young entrepreneurs.
The event gives students the opportunity to practice product design, pricing, customer service, marketing and financial literacy in a supportive, community-centered environment. Attendees can expect a family-friendly atmosphere filled with creativity, innovation and the joy of young people sharing their talents.
The community is encouraged to shop, support young makers and celebrate the next generation of Charleston creators.
“We’re excited to showcase the incredible creativity and initiative of our young entrepreneurs,” organizers said. “When the community shows up to support these students, it sends a powerful message that their ideas, skills and voices matter.”
Event highlights:
- Youth-run vendor booths featuring handmade goods
- A wide variety of creative products made by local students
- Family-friendly environment
- Free and open to the public
- An opportunity to support young people learning real-world skills
Student commitment and community impact
Students have spent weeks — and in some cases months — preparing for the event by designing products, refining their craft and learning the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. Each student was required to submit an application and pay a vendor fee, mirroring real-world business processes and deepening their investment in the experience. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Charleston Animal Society, allowing participants to support a local organization while learning the value of community stewardship.
