Emerging singer-songwriter Kendell will release her new single, “Left Against My Right,” on October 1, 2026. Blending elements of rock, Americana and folk, the track explores the internal battles that pull us in opposing directions—mind against heart, darkness against light, left against right.
“Left Against My Right” begins in a place of frustration and struggle, with the narrator wanting the force pulling her backward to simply leave her alone. As the song builds, that struggle transforms into resolve. By the end, she is no longer asking to be left alone—she is choosing to leave the “left” behind.
For Kendell, the idea can be interpreted as an internal battle or as a struggle with another person, allowing listeners to find their own meaning within the song.
The single reflects Kendell’s concept-driven approach to songwriting. Rather than focusing solely on traditional storytelling, she often builds songs around larger ideas and emotional conflicts, moving musically from intimate and reflective moments into rawer, more powerful territory.
Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Kendell had no prior music experience before beginning to play piano at age 38. She later picked up the guitar and found her way into songwriting and live performance. Her music moves between rock, Americana and folk, pairing thoughtful lyrics with an increasingly bold, guitar-driven sound.
“Left Against My Right” was produced by multi-instrumentalist Ryan West, whose production and musicianship helped shape the track’s dynamic sound. The single is the latest collaboration between Kendell and West as they continue developing her growing catalog of original music. The track was mixed and mastered at 100 Watt Studios in Charleston, South Carolina.
The single follows Kendell’s debut release, “Tell Me,” and marks the next step in a growing catalog of original music.
“Left Against My Right” will be available on all major streaming platforms October 1, 2026.
