Local singer and guitarist Jared Petteys will release his new single, “Is This Love?,” on Friday, Aug. 1 at noon. The track, which Petteys says is an "emotional power ballad," will be available on all major streaming platforms.
Petteys is launching his solo project under his own name after years fronting Jared Petteys & The Headliners. He says this new chapter is "genre-defiant — drawing from blues, punk, rockabilly, and modern rock, with storytelling that hits hard and sticks."
“Is This Love?” is the first of several planned singles that will be released monthly, culminating in a full-length LP. The song features:
- Russell Lee (drums)
- Jeff Moon (bass)
- A string section composed and performed by John Schafer
The song was mixed by Eric Rickert and mastered by Michael White.
A lyric video will drop the same day on YouTube, and a special acoustic version filmed at the historic Biggin Church in Moncks Corner premieres on Sunday, Aug. 3.
Jared is a Gretsch Guitars Spotlight Artist who’s performed alongside musicians like Reverend Horton Heat, Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats, Southern Culture on the Skids, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
He’s also a finalist in the global Rockabilly Rumble Songwriting Contest, a Charleston City Paper multi-nominee, and a two-time combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom — as well as a father of three and founder of Retro Sonic Records, his independent label that handles promotion, booking, and production.
