On Nov. 2, South Carolina native and faith-based recording artist Irene Rose won Song of the Year – Children’s Music for her single “It’s OK to Make Mistakes” at the 11th annual Josie Music Awards (JMAs) in Nashville.
“Winning Song of the Year at the Grand Ole Opry feels like I caught one of the stars I was shooting for as a kid,” Rose said. “It took 17 years, and the song itself is a message of resilience and never giving up. Even though I walked away from my record deal and every Nashville opportunity, I still ended up in the sacred circle while living the life I always wanted with a family, still making music. What is meant for you, you will not miss. Psalm 37:5 says, ‘Commit your way unto the Lord; trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass.’ That is exactly what happened.”
The JMAs, the largest independent music awards show in the world, were created by mother-daughter duo Josie Passantino-Boone and Tinamarie Passantino in 2015.
