This touching song, written during the final days of her pregnancy with her first daughter, beautifully captures the quiet joy and anticipation of welcoming a child into the world. Its release comes at a special time, coinciding with the birth of Irene’s second child, baby boy Hutchinson.
Nine days overdue and sequestered at home during the height of the pandemic, Irene embraced the stillness, using it as an opportunity to create something meaningful.
“With nothing planned and the world so quiet, I wrote my feelings into a song while sitting in my bathrobe anticipating going into labor,” Irene shares. “It’s a love letter to my new baby I was dying to meet and a celebration of the miracle of new life.”
The lyrics reflect the universal feelings of hope and love that come with expecting a child: “Each little kick, every heartbeat keeping the time until when we will meet.” The song’s soothing melody complete with cellos and flutes, combined with heartfelt words are perfect for parents and caregivers, destined to become a bedtime favorite. Irene says, “She heard me writing it in the womb and from that day forward, it never ceased to calm her down when she cried!”
