The Gibbes Museum of Art presents REFRAME, a family-friendly event intended to reframe the narrative of museum spaces and the art world, which are often perceived as isolating and exclusive. The event will be held on Sunday, November 3rd from 3 pm to 5 pm at the Park Circle Community Building (4800 Park Circle) in North Charleston.
In collaboration with the North Charleston Cultural Arts Department and the City of North Charleston, this interactive event will expose art to the community as attendees create their own artwork and enjoy live music. The event will feature a performance by singer-songwriter, Charleston native and former America’s Got Talent contestant, Ray Singleton, as well as live painting by Gibbes Visiting Artist Christopher “Kolpeace” Johnson, who explores his Black Southern culture through liberating portraits. Easels and materials will be provided, and the event is free and open to the public.
