The 2025-26 season finale of the College of Charleston International Piano Series (IPS) will feature American pianist Christopher Goodpasture. On April 7, 2026, the Steinway Young Artist will perform an imaginative program at the historic Sottile Theatre that explores introspective late works of Brahms, contrasts French composers, Debussy and Rameau, and concludes with fireworks in the form of Gershwin's Three Preludes. Gershwin spent time in Charleston researching and writing his celebrated opera, "Porgy and Bess."
As the winner of the 2020 N.Y. Concert Artist Worldwide Debut Auditions and the 2019 Astral Artist National Competition in Philadelphia, Goodpasture has given recitals in the world’s most important halls and festivals. He has also performed with renowned orchestras including the Chamber Orchestra of New York, the Oakville Symphony in Toronto and the Joven Orquesta Leonesa in Léon, Spain.
"Christopher Goodpasture is a rising star, winning major competitions and performing on the most significant world stages with regularity. Don't miss the chance to hear him here in Charleston," says Tom Hicks, Artistic Director of IPS.
Outside of his performing life, Goodpasture is passionate about education. From 2018 through 2020, he was a member of the New York-based Ensemble Connect, a fellowship program of Carnegie Hall and the Juilliard School which emphasized chamber music, audience engagement, and mentorship for young musicians. Since fall 2024, he has been a full-time piano faculty member at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, where he coaches chamber music and maintains a studio of talented young pianists. Currently, Goodpasture is finishing his doctoral candidacy at the Peabody Institute, working with Richard Goode, who performed for IPS last November.
