Folly Beach has announced the details for their most popular New Years celebrations – the annual Flip Flop Drop and Drone Show and the Bill Murray Look-a-Like Polar Bear Plunge.
Celebrate the coming of 2025 at the Folly Beach Flip Flop Drop as the famous pair of giant sparkly flip-flops descend from high above Center Street to mark the stroke of midnight. Plus, attendees can enjoy Folly’s first ever New Year’s Eve Drone Show starting at 7 pm. Expect a family-friendly show featuring dozens of drones in the sky. Viewing is available throughout Center Street.
The next day, you can kick off the new year at the Annual Bill Murray Look-a-Like Polar Bear Plunge & Costume Contest on Wednesday, January 1st, 2025. Dress as your favorite Bill Murray character (or whatever costume you’d like) and enter the Costume Contest to win prizes for Best Overall Bill Murray, Best Girl, Best Guy, and Best Team/Family. Costume Contest registration begins at 10:30 am.
Then, “freeze your Bills off” as you take a plunge into the chilly Atlantic. The costume contest will begin at 11 am on the beach at the Tides Hotel and the Plunge into the Atlantic will commence at 12 pm.
