Empowering Youth South Carolina (EYSC) will host a free community screening of Screenagers: Elementary School Age Edition on Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Wando Mount Pleasant Library, 1400 Carolina Park Blvd. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the screening begins at 6:15 p.m., followed by an interactive Q&A for students and parents.
The event is part of EYSC’s Community Engagement Series, which focuses on supporting young people facing rising levels of stress, anxiety, anger, and depression — issues that can have lasting effects if left unaddressed.
The 26-minute film, part of the acclaimed Screenagers documentary trilogy, explores how screen time, gaming, and social media affect children’s mental health and what parents, caregivers, and educators can do to help kids find balance and resilience in a digital world. The film offers a candid look inside real families navigating the challenges of social media, video games, and academics, sparking conversations between children and adults.
“Today’s kids are growing up surrounded by screens and pressures that can easily overwhelm them,” said Wendy Methvin, executive director of EYSC. “We want to give families tools, language, and support to help young people build strength in a stressful world.”
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged at https://forms.gle/gbAK4Mqryqpm5pmK6.
