On Saturday, May 2, the International African American Museum (IAAM) invites the community to experience the 2026 Charleston Air Show from one of the city's most unique vantage points.
Located at the historic site of Gadsden’s Wharf, the museum’s African Ancestors Memorial Garden provides an unobstructed, panoramic view of the aerial performances over the Charleston Harbor.
By serving as a viewing site, IAAM offers a space for the community to gather and convene for a local tradition while engaging with the museum’s mission. The event coincides with IAAM’s Bank of America’s “Museums on Us” weekend and the museum’s ongoing commitment to the military community through year-round admission discounts.
IAAM invites the public to enjoy the show (starting at 1:00 p.m.) from the museum grounds while taking advantage of:
- “Museums on Us” Weekend: Every first full weekend of every month, Bank of America, Merrill, and Bank of America Private Bank credit or debit cardholders receive one free general admission to the museum.
- Military Discounts: IAAM offers discounted admission for active-duty service members, retirees, and veterans. For more information on eligibility and ticketing, visit the IAAM FAQ page.
- Museum Amenities: Visitors can enjoy outside pop-ups of the IAAM Cafe for refreshments, shop for exclusive items at the IAAM Boutique, and an interactive Kids Zone before and during the show.
Paid parking is available at the City of Charleston parking garage on 24 Calhoun St, Charleston, S.C. 29401. Please be advised that Concord St. will be closed to through-traffic from Charlotte St. to Laurens St. to accommodate increased pedestrian activity.
