Deep Crates Charleston will celebrate its fifth anniversary with an all-vinyl music night and record show from 7 to 11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Tin Roof.
The event will feature seven vendors selling LPs, 12-inch singles and 45s, along with local DJs spinning hip-hop, funk, soul, jazz, classic rock and other genres. Additional vendors and surprise guests may be announced.
Deep Crates describes itself as Charleston’s longest-running vinyl night. Its rotating roster of local DJs has been joined by guests from Iceland, the Philippines, New York City, Atlanta, Philadelphia and North Carolina. Events also feature vendors selling vintage records, retro clothing, collectibles and art.
Hosted by Charleston native, b-boy, graffiti artist and DJ Thematik, Deep Crates began as his 45th birthday party before evolving into a monthly vinyl night and pop-up market. It has since expanded to additional events at venues including The Burgundy Lounge at Starlight Motor Inn, Groovers Listening Bar, Record Stop Loft, Rebel Taqueria, Charleston Pour House, Lo-Fi Brewing and The Purple Buffalo.
The fifth-anniversary event will be Deep Crates’ first full record show.
