On Monday, June 29, Danny McBride will bring his Thrilling Tales of Modern Men book tour to the Charleston Music Hall at 7 p.m.
McBride is the writer, producer and star of the HBO comedy series Eastbound & Down, Vice Principals and The Righteous Gemstones. He also co-wrote and executive-produced the Halloween trilogy with David Gordon Green and has appeared in films including Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express, Alien: Covenant and The Mitchells vs. the Machines.
McBride co-founded the production company Rough House Pictures, which is based in the Charleston area.
Thrilling Tales of Modern Men is described as “an addictive, unpredictable, darkly hilarious collection of stories.” The book includes tales of an amateur magician who gets in over his head with a deadly stunt at a local mall, a washed-up sitcom actor seeking revenge on the coyote that killed his dog, and two young runaways embarking on one final adventure before parting ways.
Described as "hilarious, emotionally resonant and full of unexpected twists," the collection explores themes of fragile masculinity in modern American culture. The book marks McBride’s debut short story collection.
