The Charleston Jazz Orchestra will present Global Connections: Danilo Pérez and the Charleston Jazz Orchestra, an extraordinary evening of boundary-crossing jazz featuring Grammy Award-winning pianist and composer Danilo Pérez, at the Charleston Music Hall. This highly anticipated performance is part of the Charleston Jazz Festival, taking place April 13–21, 2026.
Audiences can expect an unforgettable night of world-class music as Pérez—internationally celebrated for his visionary “Global Jazz” approach—joins forces with South Carolina’s premier big band. Known for his groundbreaking collaborations with legends such as Dizzy Gillespie and Wayne Shorter, Pérez brings a deeply expressive, cross-cultural musical language that blends Panamanian roots, Latin American folk traditions, West African rhythms, and European classical influences.
Under the direction of Maestro Robert Lewis, the Charleston Jazz Orchestra will guide audiences through a rich sonic journey celebrating improvisation, cultural dialogue, and the universal power of music. Global Connections promises to resonate with seasoned jazz enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
The 90-minute performance will be presented without intermission and is made possible in part by Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).
