For musician and social media content creator April Renee (pictured), moving to Charleston over a year ago has brought community, connection, and personal healing through the power of music.
With a background in social media, Renee’s business, Dream Catch Media, has worked with numerous brands, including the popular lifestyle community hub spot for women living abroad called Girl Gone International, founded by Anne Scott.
Cre8tive Friends began as a singer-songwriter event where local musicians could perform and network at the East Bay Meeting House in downtown Charleston. The idea quickly grew into a social media platform where musicians across the east coast can connect.
“I started Cre8tive Friends to help creatives network and connect with like-minded people, offer resources and educational experiences for artists, songwriters, producers, musicians, and even photographers, or people who want to work in the event world of music,” shared Renee.
Her vision for a nationwide Cre8tive Friends Network has been rapidly evolving and gaining support from major players in the music industry.
“I’ve managed to connect with members of the Recording Academy, award-winning producers, and many creatives more advanced than myself that I can learn from,” Renee reflected.
The community-driven creative group has already grown to include chapters in several other cities, including New York, Baltimore, Nashville, and Atlanta.
“We are building a creative community that is full of support, engagement, and a space that is non-competitive,” Renee said. “A space where artists are here to support one another and grow together.”
Every second Thursday at East Bay Meeting House, Cre8tive Friends hosts their singer-songwriter night. Local musicians can email cre8tivefriends@gmail.com to submit their music to perform and can also submit content to be featured on the Cre8tive Friends social media pages to promote their music or brand.
