In tandem with a concert event at the North Charleston Arts Fest April 30, the Colour of Music Festival returns to Mount Pleasant with a spring chamber music presentation at the I’On Village Chapel, Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 7 p.m. showcasing leading Black classical artists.
The program will feature French violinist Romuald Grimbert-Barré leading a sextet ensemble in I’On’s picturesque village community. The program includes Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto in G Minor for Two Cellos, Reinhold Glière's String Sextet No. 3, Jessie Montgomery’s Strum, and George Walker’s Lyric for Strings, concluding with Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite, Op. 40.
Since 2013, the Colour of Music Festival offers a musical kaleidoscope highlighting the impact and historical significance of Black classical composers and performers on American and world culture. The Festival began with performances at various venues throughout historic Charleston and leading collegiate venues and performance halls in Atlanta, Columbia, SC, Houston, Pittsburgh, Washington, DC, Richmond, Nashville, Sacramento, and Tulsa, OK.
"Since 2014, the Festival has showcased chamber music in the enchanting setting of I’On Square, which is perfect for such intimate performances. We are thrilled to return to I’On uniting the residents of Mount Pleasant through the power of music," said Lee Pringle, Founder and Artistic Director of the Colour of Music Festival and a proud community resident.
