The Department of Theatre and Dance at College of Charleston is excited to announce its upcoming 2025-2026 season of plays, musicals, dance, and more. The Department, which produces its season of live performances as CofC Stages, kicks off their “Pulse and Passion” season in September 2025.
The season begins with Agatha Christie’s classic whodunit The Mousetrap, presented in the Emmett Robinson Theatre September 26-October 1, 2025. The Mousetrap promises a classic murder mystery from the queen of crime herself.
In early October, CofC Stages continues its partnership with the City of Charleston’s MOJA Arts Festival with a staged reading of Christina Anderson’s the ripple, the wave that carried me home, a moving play about social justice and political activism viewed through the lens of public swimming pool integration.
The department is proud to offer two musicals as part of this year’s season. You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown by Clark Gesner, Michael Mayer, and Andrew Lippa opens in the Simons Center Black Box Theatre on November 6, 2025 and runs through November 13th with eight performances, including performance times suitable for younger audiences. In the spring, the department will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the groundbreaking musical A Chorus Line, opening April 10, 2026 in the Emmett Robinson Theatre.
The dance program will take the stage for its fall dance concert, Across the Horizon, on November 22 and 23 in the Sottile Theatre, featuring choreography by faculty and guest artists. The fall concert will also include choreography by College of Charleston School of the Arts’ Dean Jayme Klinger Host. The spring student-choreographed concert Who We Are will take place March 20-25, 2026 in the Simons Center Black Box Theatre.
“We have had almost a year to navigate our newly renovated spaces in the Simons Center for the Arts, and I am thrilled to lead our ‘Pulse and Passion’ season of exciting productions with student-centered experiential learning as the focal point,” notes Janine McCabe, artistic director of CofC Stages and Associate Professor of Costume Design. “We continue to offer high production value and strive to present professional quality work for the entire Charleston community to enjoy.”
Rounding out the season are the return of The Pages Festival, the department’s celebration of student-written plays and playwrights, taking place in the Emmett Robinson Theatre January 23-26, 2026, and William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, premiering February 19, 2026 with performances running through February 26.
Individual tickets range from $12-30, with discounts available to seniors, military, veterans, and youth under 18, as well as for College of Charleston students, faculty, and staff. Tickets are available through the George Street Box Office. Season subscriptions are also available for $152 for adults and $140 for seniors/military/veterans/youth under 18.
