On Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, the Civility Initiative at the College of Charleston will host Jamelle Bouie, New York Times columnist for a post-election Q&A, highlighting how to have healthy conflict and dialogue across differences.
Bouie, a noted voice on race and politics, will do a Q&A with Michael Lee, director of the Civility Initiative. Lee will lead the Q&A with Bouie and they will expand on the reasons why Americans are increasingly concerned about growing political divisions. How worried should we be about the polarization, the "culture war," or differences between red and blue states? How does media influence division? What common bonds and beliefs unite Americans even in times of conflict and distrust?
The event will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Sottile Theatre (44 George Street) on the College of Charleston campus.
Free and open to the public. Attendees must complete the online registration for a free ticket here: https://cofc.evenue.net/
