In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, the CHS AAPI Collective will present a month-long series of events aimed at uplifting AAPI voices and fostering cultural appreciation and community dialogue throughout Charleston.
The celebration will kick off with an engaging and thought-provoking panel discussion, "Where Do I Belong?," on May 1 at The Porter Room at Holy City Brewing, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event, moderated by Anna Chen, will feature a diverse panel of guest speakers including Sarah Williams-Scalise, Mimi Striplin, Owais Jadoon, Joel Carnright, and Hirona Matsuda, who will discuss themes of identity, diversity, and community through an AAPI lens.
Light hors d'oeuvres will be served during the pre-panel mingling hour (5:30 - 6 p.m.), and drinks will be available for purchase inside Holy City Brewing. Entry is $15, with a discounted rate of $5 for ages 18 and under.
Following the kickoff event, CHS AAPI Collective will continue its AAPI Heritage Month programming with the following community events:
