Charleston’s Absent Friends (CAF), a nonprofit theater troupe known for its bold, immersive productions, proudly presents 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche by Evan Linder and Andrew Hobgood. This high-energy, interactive comedy will take audiences back to 1956, where the “Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein” gathers for its annual quiche breakfast—just as the world teeters on the brink of nuclear apocalypse.
With rapid-fire wit, audience participation, and a satirical bite, 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche serves up laughter, suspense, and a celebration of queer joy and resilience. This production is fully interactive, inviting audiences to step into the world of the play. Guests should be prepared to become “fellow widows” as the story unfolds around them. VIP ticket holders will enjoy front row seating at the center of the breakfast chaos, placing them right in the middle of the action—and may even be invited to help the widows as the morning unravels.

About the Production
Set in the Eisenhower era, the play follows a tightly wound group of women dedicated to propriety, pastry, and patriotism—until secrets begin to unravel and sirens begin to blare. What unfolds is a fast-paced, campy exploration of identity, repression, and liberation, wrapped in a perfectly flaky crust.
This production features two alternating casts (Cast Q and Cast L), bringing fresh energy and interpretation to each performance.
