Charleston Stage invites audiences to celebrate the magic of the holiday season with A Christmas Carol, playing November 29 through December 21, 2025, at the Historic Dock Street Theatre. This beloved Charleston holiday tradition returns to the stage in a dazzling production filled with festive music, unforgettable characters, and the timeless message of hope and redemption.
This year’s production is directed by returning guest director Crystin Gilmore, whose work on Charleston Stage’s Once On This Island captivated audiences with its heart and visual splendor. Gilmore brings her signature warmth and storytelling flair to A Christmas Carol, reimagining the classic tale with vibrant performances and joyful spirit.
Adapted from Charles Dickens’ cherished novella, A Christmas Carol tells the story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited on Christmas Eve by the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Through these encounters, Scrooge is given a chance to open his heart and rediscover the generosity and wonder of the season.
With lavish costumes, stunning sets, and a talented cast of Charleston’s finest professional and young performers, this spirited production captures the magic of the holidays for audiences of all ages.
“A Christmas Carol endures because it reminds us of what truly matters—compassion, connection and transformation,” said Charleston Stage’s Managing Director, Tim Rogers. “We’re thrilled to welcome Crystin Gilmore back to bring her artistic vision to this cherished holiday favorite.”
Join Charleston Stage for a magical evening of theatre that will leave you inspired and full of holiday cheer.
