We Are Family will present the Charleston Queer Adult Prom on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Park Circle Community Building. This one-of-a-kind evening blends fierce fashion, joyful community, and immersive entertainment—all in support of LGBTQ+ youth across South Carolina.
Far more than just a party, Queer Adult Prom is an inclusive, second-chance celebration for anyone who may not have had the opportunity to attend their prom as their full, authentic selves. It’s a chance to be seen, celebrated, and connected—all while giving back to a cause that saves lives.
“This experience is more than a night out— it’s a reclamation," said Domenico Ruggerio, Executive Director of We Are Family. "For everyone who didn’t get to show up to prom as their full selves, this is our moment to rewrite that story together. Every ticket funds critical programs for LGBTQ+ youth across South Carolina, and every dance floor moment reminds us: we are still here, still shining, and still building the future we deserve."
This year’s theme invites guests into a gothic dreamscape ballroom, with music, magic, and mesmerizing activation stations hosted by community partners. Enjoy handcrafted cocktails from Drinks with Jay, dance under the stars, and revel in pure queer joy.
Hosted by We Are Family alum and drag personality Ava Clear, with a special guest appearance by drag icon Gia Gunn (RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6, All Stars 4, and The Switch), this evening will shine with energy, elegance, and empowerment.
All proceeds directly support We Are Family’s vital work, including LGBTQ+ youth support groups, free mental health services, the Trans Love Fund, and more. Every ticket sold helps build affirming spaces and life-saving resources for queer youth in our community.
“Charleston Queer Adult Prom is joy with a purpose," said says Jonatan Guerrero-Ramirez, Director of Programs of We Are Family. "It’s a space where our community can show up loud, proud, and unapologetically authentic— while directly supporting the mental health, leadership, and wellness of LGBTQ+ youth in the state. This night is about celebration, but it’s also about impact."
