Charleston performer and comedic force Táhlia Audrí is set to take the stage at the iconic The Grisly Pear Midtown, a premier New York City comedy destination.
Wrapping up Black History Month, Audrí will premiere her original musical production, Straight Out of Charleston: Chile, It’s a Time! The show will take place Saturday, Feb. 28, at 5 p.m., and is a featured act in the prestigious Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest.
Merging soulful melodies, narrative storytelling and sharp humor, Straight Out of Charleston delivers a spirited, dynamic one-woman performance. The show honors Southern heritage, kinship and the delightful mayhem of everyday life. Through a mix of original songs and clever observations, Audrí guides audiences on an authentic journey from her South Carolina roots to the big-city spotlight.
The showcase is a highlight of the Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest, a nationwide event focused on elevating the voices of Black female creators. Featuring performances ranging from stand-up to solo theater, the festival provides a platform for emerging artists to expand their reach in the mainstream comedy scene.
“I’m excited to bring a little Charleston flavor to New York City,” Audrí said. “This show is personal, musical, funny and full of heart. It’s a celebration of where I come from and who I am, and I can’t wait to share it with new audiences.”
