The Charleston Museum invites the community to tour the Dill Sanctuary for Community Day on Saturday, October 5th from 9:30 a.m to 1 p.m. Museum staff will be on hand to discuss recent accomplishments at the Sanctuary, including preservation of the Civil War batteries, archaeological research, and natural resource management.
Attendees can take guided tours, hear special presentations on the history and ecology of the property, hike to the wildlife pond, and participate in educational children’s activities, all while enjoying the natural environment of this Lowcountry treasure.
The event is free and open to the public, with a suggested minimum donation of $10. RSVPs requested via the Charleston Museum website.
While the Museum offers programs throughout the year to provide public access to this special property, the Dill Sanctuary is not open for daily visitation and this is a rare opportunity to learn about the historic and natural features located within the 580-acre wildlife preserve.
The Dill Sanctuary is a wildlife preserve; pets are not permitted on the property. This is an “off-road” location with unprepared terrain. Walking shoes/boots, sun protection and water are strongly recommended.
The Dill Sanctuary is located at 1163 Riverland Drive.
