The Charleston Museum invites guests to join Curator of Historic Textiles Virginia Theerman for an exclusive preview of the artifacts to be included in the forthcoming permanent exhibit: “Beyond the Ashes: The Lowcountry’s New Beginnings.” The exhibit will open to the public later this year.
Guests will have the rare opportunity to venture into the Museum’s storeroom and get a firsthand look at late 19th and early 20th-century textiles that are not yet on public display. Theerman will share insights into the meticulous process of preparing objects for permanent exhibition and the strategic planning required to preserve them for years to come. Additionally, participants will learn about the major events that shaped Charleston over the past century, providing a deeper understanding of the city’s rich history.
