The Charleston Jazz Orchestra (CJO) will kick off its Fall/Winter season on Saturday, September 19, with Piano Legends, a celebration of the iconic pianists who have shaped the sound and evolution of jazz. Performances will take place at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Charleston Music Hall.
Piano Legends explores the artistry and influence of legendary jazz pianists including Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Chick Corea, and others, bringing their distinctive sounds and innovations to life through the Charleston Jazz Orchestra and four talented local musicians: Demetrius Doctor, Gerald Gregory, Abdiel Iriarte, and Arshak Sirunyan.
Rather than simply looking back at jazz history, Piano Legends offers a personal perspective on the musicians who continue to inspire generations of artists. Each featured local musician will interpret the work of a legendary pianist who has influenced their own musical journey, offering audiences a closer look at the artists behind the music and the lasting impact of their creative voices.
