The acclaimed Charleston Gospel Choir will return to the stage for Gospel Christmas at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025, at Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Highway, Charleston.
A Lowcountry household name, the Charleston Gospel Choir brings depth to Charleston’s musical landscape with gospel favorites, moving spirituals and festive holiday arrangements.
Led by guest conductor Donald Lee III, the performance will also feature the South Carolina State University Concert Choir, tenor soloist Johnnie Felder, and the Gospel Christmas Orchestra, comprised of regional musicians.
Highlights include soulful arrangements of Joy to the World and Go Tell It on the Mountain, along with a gospel arrangement for orchestra and choir of Christmas is Jesus Christ by composer Trevor Weston, honoring the choir’s 1999 debut performance.
“The Charleston Gospel Choir has a long history of ushering in the holiday season with time-honored repertoire I look forward to conducting. I am honored to be invited and share in this holiday tradition,” said guest conductor Donald Lee III.
“The uplifting sounds of the Charleston Gospel Choir are a holiday tradition featuring our wonderful regional and local musicians. The all-volunteer group of singers is humbled by the support from our Lowcountry patrons for the past 27 years,” said Lee Pringle, producer, founder and president of the Charleston Gospel Choir.
