In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Charleston-based Pencils and Pecs and local artist Stephen Cefalo are hosting a silent art auction to benefit My Sister’s House, the Lowcountry’s leading nonprofit serving survivors of domestic violence. The event will take place Saturday, Oct. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Vendue, Charleston’s art hotel.
For more than 45 years, My Sister’s House has provided shelter, counseling and advocacy for victims of intimate partner violence throughout the Lowcountry. This October, the organization will receive proceeds from Charleston’s first charity auction featuring fine art of life drawing models — a unique collection of original oil and pencil works depicting the models from Pencils and Pecs, Charleston’s popular “sip and sketch” experience.
“It’s such an honor to work with My Sister’s House and Stephen Cefalo to support this meaningful cause,” said Raquel Serafino, founder of Pencils and Pecs. “Charleston really shows up for its community — The Vendue has been amazing to work with, and Stephen and the models poured their hearts into these pieces. We couldn’t be more grateful.”
The collection marks a cultural moment: the models who inspire amateur artists at Pencils and Pecs events are now immortalized in museum-quality fine art, with proceeds directly supporting survivors rebuilding their lives. The silent auction will also feature donated items and experiences from local Charleston businesses.
The free public event invites community members to view Cefalo’s striking collection, bid on auction items, and enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and cocktails while supporting a vital local cause.
