Charleston’s most glamorous night for a cause returns Oct. 24 as 600 guests gather at the Gaillard Center for Charleston Animal Society’s Applause for Paws Masquerade Gala.
Decked in black-tie attire and mysterious masks, attendees will enjoy an evening featuring a gourmet dinner, live auction and entertainment — all in support of the shelter’s mission to save thousands of homeless, injured and abandoned animals each year. Voted “Best Fundraising Event” in the Lowcountry by Charleston City Paper readers, the annual gala serves as a vital fundraiser for the organization, which facilitates more than 5,000 adoptions annually.
“The crowd is always so enthusiastic about supporting animals,” Gala Chair Naomie Olindo said. “While our theme is ‘Masquerade,’ there is no hiding our love for the animals who need us most.”
News 2 anchor Carolyn Murray will serve as emcee for the gala and will be joined by auctioneer Erin Kienzle, host of ABC News 4’s “Lowcountry Live.”
New this year is a chance to win two Vespa Primavera Officina 8 scooters. Anyone can purchase a raffle ticket, and participants do not have to attend the gala in person. Only 1,000 raffle tickets are available.
