The program opens with Gade’s iconic “Jalousie” for solo violin and strings followed by Astor Piazzolla’s L’histoire du Tango for violin and guitar. Grammy-winner Jason Vieaux, recognized as “among the elite of today’s classical guitarists” (Gramophone), is described by NPR as “perhaps the most precise and soulful classical guitarist of his generation.” With performances at prestigious venues such as New York’s Lincoln Center, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, and Seoul Arts Center, Vieaux has cemented his reputation as an artist of brilliance and uncompromised mastery. His extensive discography includes critically acclaimed releases such as “Bach Volume 2: Works for Violin” and “Shining Night” with violinist Anne Akiko Meyers. Vieaux’s virtuosity and lyrical performances have earned him accolades from major publications, and his 2014 Grammy Award-winning album “Play” was hailed by The Huffington Post as part of a revitalized interest in classical guitar.
Spanish-born violinist Francisco Fullana, winner of the 2018 Avery Fisher Career Grant, has been praised as an “amazing talent” (Gustavo Dudamel) and “frighteningly awesome” (Buffalo News). His solo album “Bach’s Long Shadow” was named BBC Music Magazine’s Instrumental Choice of the Month.
