Highlights include the continuation of the mesmerizing Summer Light: Art by Night exhibition, where the Gardens transform into a radiant wonderland, complemented by the Southern Food Ways exhibition, featuring weekly culinary events that celebrate the rich flavors and traditions of Southern cuisine. Summer Light: Art by Night, Wednesdays and Saturdays, Now – Aug. 24, 6 – 10 p.m.
On these enchanting summer nights, thousands of bulbs will illuminate Brookgreen Gardens, offering guests an opportunity to see the National Historic Landmark in a new light. Brookgreen’s stunning landscapes, including the iconic Oak Allée, have come alive with 11 sparkling light installations created by Brookgreen’s public exhibits production and design team, the same talented group behind the beloved Nights of a Thousand Candles exhibition. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the gates reopen at 6 p.m. for Summer Light: Art by Night, where visitors can enjoy live music and savor dining and beverage options from Austin’s Harvest Restaurant, the Old Kitchen, and a selection of food trucks.

Southern Food Ways, Now – Aug. 24, 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Celebrating the diverse and rich culinary heritage of the region, Southern Food Ways is an exhibit and pop-up shop that explores the distinctive flavors, techniques, and stories that define Southern cuisine. Held every Tuesday, exhibition related events feature various tastings, presentations, and more from local and regional authors, food entrepreneurs, and farmers. Whether a seasoned cook or enthusiastic foodie, this event guarantees a delightful journey for visitors to explore the heart of Southern hospitality and culinary tradition.

Art of the American West, Aug. 3 – Oct. 20, 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The art of the American West captures the spirit, landscapes, and cultural history of the western United States. It includes depictions of vast prairies, rugged mountains, and iconic imagery such as cowboys, Native Americans, and frontier life. This genre has been shaped by artists like Frederic Remington, who portrayed a dramatic and often romanticized vision of the West. The art serves not only as a visual record of history but also as a means to explore themes of adventure, expansion, and the relationship between humans and the natural world. This exhibit includes paintings, sculptures, art prints, jewelry, textiles, and other objects representative of the American West.

Dirt & Details: The Children’s Garden with Gina Davis, Aug. 1, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Experience a magical tour of the Children’s Garden with Brookgreen Gardens’ horticulturalist Gina Davis. Visitors will have the opportunity to hear Davis share various gardening tips, such as adding color to shady gardens, introducing tropical plants to summer displays, and how to choose shrubs that will give gardens year-round color.
Photo Editing Workshop, Aug. 7, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Brookgreen guests are invited to join renowned nature photographer George DeCamp for an engaging photo editing workshop. DeCamp will guide visitors through fundamental Photoshop and Lightroom skills, encouraging them to explore the software and transform their photographs into masterpieces.
Open Studio, Aug. 21, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Open Studio is a monthly public program that invites guests to spend time with a sculptor and observe the process of creating a sculpture, from clay to bronze.
Brookgreen 101, Aug. 22, 1 – 2 p.m.
Brookgreen 101 is a public information program offered monthly in the Wall Lowcountry Center Auditorium. The rotating topics will cover various aspects of Brookgreen Gardens, including its collections, property, history, people, poetry, art history, corporate history, founders, and purposes. This month’s topic will be: “The American West in Art.”
