Get ready to deck the halls and lift your spirits. 54Talent (formerly Charleston Performing Arts Center and the James Island Jr. Theatre) presents A Folly Jolly Christmas Spectacular, an original musical revue filled with dazzling performances, heartfelt nostalgia and plenty of Christmas cheer. This year’s production reunites beloved performers from past shows and welcomes a new generation of young artists to the stage for a holiday celebration unlike any other.
Set at the “Edge of America,” the festive story follows Santa and Mrs. Claus as they discover an extraordinary surge of Christmas spirit coming from a small theater on James Island. Curious and delighted, they journey south to find a cast of singers, dancers, elves and reindeer spreading holiday joy through show-stopping numbers and warmhearted humor. From classic holiday tunes to modern favorites and traditional carols, A Folly Jolly Christmas Spectacular blends classic Christmas nostalgia with contemporary energy. It is Charleston’s most family-friendly Christmas production.
“This show is truly a homecoming,” said co-director Scott Pfeiffer of 54Talent. “Many of our performers have worked together in past productions or trained with our company, and the process of creating together again has been just as meaningful as the performance itself. There’s a real sense of reunion and rediscovery — of why we love to do this.”
The production features an ensemble of professional and community performers alongside students from 54Talent’s youth programs, creating a dynamic mix of experience and emerging talent. With sparkling choreography, stunning vocals and an infectious spirit of togetherness, the show captures what the holiday season is all about: connection, creativity and joy.
“We wanted to remind audiences — and ourselves — that even in challenging times, the arts have a way of bringing people back together,” added co-director Kirk Pfeiffer. “A Folly Jolly Christmas Spectacular is more than a show; it’s a celebration of community.”
A limited run of performances will be held at The Rickhouse (1734 Signal Point Road, James Island) from Thursday, Dec. 18, through Sunday, Dec. 21. Tickets are available at 54talent.com/shows.
