This week, Joint Base Charleston announced that the 2026 Charleston Airshow will now be a single-day, harbor-front show, moving the event from Joint Base Charleston to the Charleston Harbor.
In a statement released on its website, the airshow said:
“After careful consideration, Joint Base Charleston has made the decision to transition the 2026 Charleston Airshow to a one-day, off-base event. This change is a necessary result of increased operational requirements due to current global events.
"On Saturday, May 2, Joint Base Charleston is proud to partner with the cities of Charleston and Mount Pleasant to host a one-day harbor-front airshow. This display of aviation excellence will take place over Charleston Harbor, south of the Cooper River Bridge between downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant, and will feature the Blue Angels and F-16 Demo Team.
"Passes will not be required for the harbor-front event. The public will be able to view the show from locations in downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant.
"We are excited to share more information on this unique event as it becomes available. Keep an eye on the Joint Base Charleston Facebook page for updates.”
The Charleston Airshow features a wide range of aircraft performances, demonstrations and displays. Attendees can expect high-flying aerobatics, precision maneuvers by expert pilots and ground displays showcasing both vintage and modern aircraft.
