As we get ready for South Carolina's beaches in the Lowcountry to welcome in visitors from around the country and around the world to Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, and Edisto Beach during the summer months; we all need to play our part in protecting the beauty and wonder of South Carolina's Lowcountry beaches.
The Beaches of the South Carolina's Lowcountry face a combination of environmental and safety challenges, which includes coastal erosion, water pollution, and wildfire hazards.
According to WCBD news, half of South Carolina's shoreline is eroding. And the combination of tropical storms and sea levels are shrinking beaches down in the South Carolina Lowcountry and Grand Strand in a tremendous way. This has caused a rise in property insurance cost.
Bacteria and plastic pollution also plague Lowcountry beaches. Bacteria levels around the area's beaches are elevated with heavy rainfall and draining from creeks. And plastic pollution many times are ingested by the fish industry and marine wildlife.
And according to the Charleston Magazine, beachgoes time in the Lowcountry are hurt when they feel the sting from Portuguese man-o-war and jellyfish that may be in or out of the water on the beach. Their time is hurt on the beach when they encounter these venomous creatures when they are walking the shore. You would want to avoid these creatures at all cost.
Since South Carolina's Lowcountry beaches are hurt with pollution, when were at the beach we need to do our all to protect our beautiful Palmetto State beaches. Always make sure we throw away trash from food you eat at the beach, because these contaminates may pollute the seawaters we have in South Carolina.
And the South Carolina Lowcountry community would also need to invest in needed insurance for Beach erosion that might damage private property. And we may even need to protect our feet from those stinging pest by wearing protective sandals while we walk the beach. And if we are careful to Keep South Carolina beaches beautiful; that would allow us to leave an inheritance to future generations that would love the Beauty of the Palmetto State as well.
