Brookfield Residential’s Nexton team and Maymont Homes joined forces on May 19 for a “May of Caring” crossover initiative with a series of volunteer events dedicated to giving back and supporting the greater Charleston community. Through hands-on service events, the initiative brings together team members and local partners in a shared commitment to making a positive impact.
“The May of Caring volunteering initiative is a meaningful opportunity to give back to the organizations that preserve and enrich the greater Charleston community,” said Cassie Cataline, Director of Marketing for Brookfield Residential at Nexton.
“Supporting the communities where we live and work is an important part of our culture at Maymont Homes,” said Stephanie Windon, Vice President of Marketing & Communications at Maymont Homes. “We’re proud to partner with Brookfield Residential and these impactful local organizations to support meaningful initiatives that make a positive difference across the greater Charleston community.”
For the 2026 May of Caring event, volunteers donated their time and efforts throughout the greater Charleston region:
- Charleston Animal Society – Berkeley Campus, volunteers supported daily operations by walking and playing with the animals, preparing enrichment treats, cleaning and organizing supplies, and helping staff maintain a safe, welcoming environment for adoptable pets. Nexton made a $1000 donation to support operations in Berkeley County.
- Keep Charleston Beautiful, volunteers participated in community cleanup efforts at the Lowcountry Lowline near 93 Romney St. and the marsh off Johnson St., helping enhance local green spaces and promote environmental stewardship across the region. Maymont Homes also made a $500 donation to support Keep Charleston Beautiful’s ongoing efforts.
- At Lowcountry Food Bank, volunteers prepared meals for coastal communities across South Carolina experiencing food insecurity.
- At Lowcountry Orphan Relief, volunteers helped serve local children through creating personalized Care Kits filled with clothing, shoes, toiletries, and other essential items. In addition to supporting the organization through May of Caring, Maymont Homes maintains an ongoing volunteer partnership with Lowcountry Orphan Relief, with team members volunteering quarterly throughout the year.
In total, 200 hands-on volunteers worked together in support of the organizations that strengthen and serve the greater Charleston community.
