How To Support The Local LGBTQI+ Community During Pride Month

With the start of Pride Month just days away, Tri-County-based nonprofit We Are Family shared ways to support the local LGBTQI+ community this June.

In addition to attending the events listed below, you can help by volunteering your time and providing a monetary donation that will directly benefit LGBTQI+ and ally youth in the Charleston area.

Below are events you can volunteer for or attend. To sign up to volunteer at any of the below events, fill out THIS Google Form.

Thrifty Thursday
- Closet Case Thrift Store 1801 Reynolds Ave, North Charleston
- Thursday, June 8th
- 5 pm to 8 pm
- Volunteer timing needs: 12 pm to 8:30 pm
  - Volunteer needs will include (but are not limited to): Preparing for the weekend’s events, helping during the event, and assisting with load in and load out.
The Charleston Adult Queer Prom
- The Gibbes Museum of Art, 135 Meeting St, Charleston
- Saturday, June 10th
- 6 pm to 11 pm
- Volunteer timing needs: 9 am to 12 am
  - Volunteer needs will include (but are not limited to): pre-event tasks, set up, guest relations, seating, production strike and load out
  - Note: Volunteers to help at this event for the 5 pm to 12 am shift will be given a free ticket to this event. This event is an official event of Park Circle Pride
Queer Youth Fest
- Condon Family Law, 4840 Chateau Ave, North Charleston
- Sunday, June 11th
- 11 am to 4 pm
- Volunteer timing needs: 9 am to 5 pm
  - Volunteer needs will include (but are not limited to): helping set and run stations during the event
Park Circle Pride Post-Production
- Closet Case Thrift Store 1801 Reynolds Ave, North Charleston
- Monday, June 12th
- Volunteer timing needs: 10 am to 3 pm
  - Volunteer needs will include (but are not limited to): Unloading the truck and organizing items from the events into bins.
