The USL Championship announced Tuesday that Battery midfielder Arturo Rodriguez (right) was named to the league's Week 11 Team of the Week. It is Rodriguez's first nod to the Team of the Week this season.
Rodriguez provided the heroics in Charleston's 1-0 victory over Monterey Bay FC on Saturday, scoring the match-winning goal early in the first half. The 24-year-old also tallied 10 duels won, nine recoveries, two tackles and completed 81% of his passes in an all-around complete performance.
Saturday's goal was Rodriguez's second match-winner with the Battery. The Mexican midfielder found the back of the net at the death against Hartford Athletic in April.
“We are always excited when players are honored for their performances,” said Head Coach Ben Pirmann. “Arturo had an excellent game with a great team goal. He is continuing to improve each week and we hope he can continue to put the work in to help the team earn more points.”
The Battery will look to build upon their victory over Monterey Bay against Rio Grande Valley FC Toros on Sat., May 27 in Texas. Charleston return home to kick off the June schedule with a pair of matches on Fri., June 2, and Wed., June 7. Tickets for both home matches are available now via SeatGeek.com, the Battery's exclusive digital ticketing provider.
